Philosophy

Building Kalaari Capital has been an exercise in identifying raw potential. 

Venture capital is deeply analytical work, requiring us to weigh complex risks and make hard strategic calls every single day. Yet, the mechanics of investing are just the foundation. What genuinely drives my work is a deep curiosity about the human side of company building. I look for founders who have a clear insight into a real problem and the conviction to solve it. My role is to partner with them, offering steady support as they grow an idea into a business that earns real customer love.

I never know when I will hear someone take a simple concept and turn it into something extraordinary, and I consider myself lucky to have a front-row seat to that process.

Journey

Growing up in a conservative middle class family in Hyderabad, I was one of only six women in my engineering class of four hundred. I just focused on the work in front of me. That focus took me to Silicon Valley, where I spent two decades building software companies from the ground up.   

After selling my second business, a solo trip to Hawaii helped me realize I had reached a natural plateau and wanted to stretch myself again. A visit to India shortly after made me see an undeniable energy in the country. I knew I had to leave my life in California to participate.

Perspective

Building a lasting business in India takes immense patience. I find my grounding through daily meditation and running, habits that remind me of the discipline required for the long haul.
