Lesson from my journey

Digital public infrastructure, when designed with openness and interoperability at its core, has the power to democratise access in ways that no single product or company can achieve alone. The policy choices made today will determine who benefits from India's digital future.

Philosophy

Technology's greatest value lies not in its sophistication, but in its ability to solve fundamental problems for the many, not just the few. Across my career in policy, entrepreneurship, and governance, I have been driven by the question of how digital infrastructure can be made truly inclusive and how the institutions that shape technology policy can keep pace with the speed at which technology itself evolves. India's digital transformation is one of the most consequential stories of our time, and I believe that getting the policy architecture right is as important as any single innovation.

Journey

I am the Head and Co-founder of the Digital India Foundation, a policy think tank working at the intersection of technology policy, digital public infrastructure, and responsible AI. I also serve as an Adjunct Professor at IIT (BHU), Varanasi, and Ashoka University. My earlier career included serving as CEO of MyGov.in, the Government of India's flagship participatory governance platform, as well as board and advisory roles at Larsen & Toubro, the State Trading Corporation, and the Digital India Corporation. I have been a member of the World Economic Forum's Global Futures Council on Digital Economy and Society, and have published extensively on the digital economy in platforms including the Harvard Business Review and the World Economic Forum. I am also a co-founder of several startups, including e-enable, amplify.ai, and apnaPay.

Perspective

As an Advisor to Kalaari Capital, I bring a perspective shaped by decades at the intersection of technology, policy, and entrepreneurship. I am particularly engaged by the opportunities and responsibilities that come with India's digital public infrastructure moment, and with the governance questions raised by responsible AI at scale.

Lesson from my journey
We have an almost unlimited capacity to underestimate ourselves, and my hope is simply to help people dream big often far beyond what they initially believe is possible.
