Good legal counsel in venture is not about saying no, it is about finding ways to say yes safely. My work is to understand the risk landscape clearly enough that I can help the firm and its portfolio companies move forward with confidence, not caution. Legal and regulatory complexity, handled well, becomes a foundation for trust. I believe that the best legal work is almost invisible: it structures deals, protects relationships, and anticipates problems before they arise, without slowing down the momentum that makes early-stage companies possible.
Before joining Kalaari, I was a partner at two law firms, where I advised clients across venture capital transactions, inbound and outbound investments, mergers and acquisitions, and a wide range of commercial and corporate matters. That experience gave me a broad and deep familiarity with how deals are structured, where risk tends to concentrate, and how to navigate the regulatory environment that governs the Indian startup ecosystem. At Kalaari, I advise on the legal and regulatory matters of the firm and its portfolio, bringing that breadth of transactional experience to every engagement.
Outside of work, I find renewal in travel, long drives, and music. Each in its own way is an exercise in being present - in the landscape, in the journey, in the sound. I find that the ability to be genuinely present, without an agenda, is something that makes you better in every professional context as well.
