Ratan N. Tata was the Chairman of Tata Sons, the holding company of Tata Group, from 1991 till his retirement in December 2012. Post retirement, he has been conferred the honorary title of Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons and a few Tata Group companies. During his tenure, the group’s revenues grew manifold, totaling over $100 billion in 2011-12. Mr. Tata joined Tata Group in 1962 and in 1981 he was named Chairman of Tata Industries where he was responsible for promoting new ventures in high technology businesses. He serves on the Board of Alcoa and Mondelez. He is also on international advisory boards of Mitsubishi Corporation, JP Morgan Chase and Temasek Holdings. He is associated with various organizations in India and overseas. He is the Chairman of Sir Ratan Tata Trust and Sir Dorabji Tata Trust, two of the largest private sector promoted philanthropic trusts in India. Mr. Tata received a B.Arch degree from Cornell and has completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School. The Government of India honored Mr. Tata with its second highest civilian award, the Padma Vibhushan, in 2008.
Mike is an experienced finance and operations executive specializing in technology enterprises. Mike’s experience includes various CFO and Operations roles for Silicon Valley companies such as ROLM, Oracle, Sybase and Vantive. Mike manages his own consultancy firm which specializes in assisting early stage companies with operational planning and supports customer facing activities with legal and operational assistance. Currently, Mike serves as a Non-Executive Director of Kalaari Capital Management. At Kalaari, Mike provides financial and operational oversight for the Fund and reviews the investment proposals as selected and proposed by the Kalaari Team. Mike received a BS degree in Accounting from California State University, East Bay, was certified as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of California and served as a Finance Commissioner for the City of Belmont.
Rich Gerould is an attorney and business development executive serving emerging-growth software companies and Silicon Valley venture firms, focusing on pursuing, structuring, negotiating and closing strategic transactions. Rich has over 20 years experience in Silicon Valley in thousands of domestic and international transactions. Prior to entering private practice representing a variety of Silicon Valley clients, Rich began practicing law at Severson & Werson in San Francisco and at Fenwick & West in Palo Alto. Rich served as General Counsel at two software companies that went public, Micro Focus and Visigenic. He gained extensive sales and business development experience as Vice President of Business Development at Visigenic, RightWorks, i2 Technologies and Certus Software (where he was also General Counsel). He was the Founder, President and a member of the Board of Configurex, a venture-funded software company, and was Director of OEM/VAR Sales at Borland. Rich holds a BA in Computer Science and MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, a JD from Hastings College of the Law and is a member of the California Bar.
Thirumagen (Pazani) Vaitilingon
Pazani is a Member of Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) UK and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Management with Finance from the University of Mauritius. He has further enrolled himself for an MBA programme with the Edinburgh Business School. Pazani has been with IFS for nearly 8 years and has developed in depth knowledge of the financial services sector coupled with practical know-how on the operating, regulatory and compliance aspects for global business entities. Pazani heads a team of 7 persons and oversees a diversified portfolio of over 50 financial and non-financial services entities (including closed-end funds and investment holding companies). He is also involved in fund structuring and set-ups and has been exposed to main areas of the industry including legal, tax, accounting, administration and corporate secretarial fields. He sits on the Board of a number of global business companies.
Peter is an experienced finance and operations executive. He has spent the last 25+ years working in corporates and VC/PE backed international telecommunications, technology and fintech businesses. His focus is on delivering strategies for investors across EBITDA generation, M&A, trade sales, IPO preparation, and capital raising. As a Non-Executive Director of Kalaari Capital Management III, Peter provides financial and operational oversight for the Fund and reviews the investment proposals as selected by the Kalaari team. Peter holds an MBA in Advanced Finance from the University of Kingston, London.
Fareed has overall responsibility for compliance and corporate secretarial matters at IFS Group - a SANNE company. Fareed joined IFS in August 1995. He is also involved in fund set up and administration. Prior to joining IFS, Fareed worked for 11 years as Court Officer with the Mauritius Judicial Department and for about a year with the secretarial arm of KPMG as Deputy Manager being in charge of its secretarial and insolvency departments. He serves as a director of global business companies and investment funds. Fareed is a Chartered Secretary from the UK Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators and holds a Masters in Business Administration (Finance), UK.
Resmah Mandary, Manager, is a Fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK. She joined IFS in 2005 after graduating from the University of Mauritius with a BSc (Hons) in Accounting with Information Systems. Resmah has over the last 6 years led a number of units at IFS and secured wide ranging skills including in financial reporting, fund accounting, legal, tax, administration, Anti-Money Laundering and corporate secretarial fields. Resmah spearheaded the successful setting up of IFS’ CIS-Fund Accounting Unit, including coaching talents on a sophisticated IT platform. She was responsible for the daily operations of the unit covering inter alia Net Asset Value calculation, registrar, investor reporting, general accounting and financial reporting. After 2.5 years co-heading the CIS-Fund Accounting Unit team of 15 members, she moved to lead another team of 15 people having the responsibility for a portfolio of more than 130 entities, including collective investment schemes, close-end funds, investment holding companies and trusts. Resmah serves as director on a number of global business companies, including Funds.
Sateeta Jeewoolall-Jessoo, Senior Manager, is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Economics (Hons) from the University of Mauritius. Prior to joining IFS in September 2003, she was with PricewaterhouseCoopers (Mauritius) in the Audit department. She co-heads a group responsible for a specialised unit dedicated to servicing the Private Equity Funds. She has been exposed to the main areas of the industry including legal, tax, administration and corporate secretarial fields. She sits on the Board of a number of global business companies.
SHAFIIQis a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) UK, holds a Bachelor of Science in Management with Finance and a Master of Business Administration (Specialisation: Financial Services) from the University of Mauritius. He has been with IFS for over 9 years and has developed in depth knowledge of the financial services sector and has been exposed to the main areas of the industry including legal, tax, administration, accounting, anti-money laundering and corporate secretarial fields of financial and non financial services entities including trusts. He has also been involved in fund structuring and set-ups of funds and global business companies and administration of both open-ended as well as closed-ended funds.
